International Experiences - thanks from a couple freshly inspired to travel Euorope and United States in an rv

International Experiences

I’d just like to drop a line to thank you for this helpful information on RV touring. All due to your advice, my husband and I have finally been able to realize our dreams of travelling around Europe in a camper van, something that we’ve wanted to do since we met.

Why the wait? Well life just got on top of us – we planned, but then procrastinated, got tied up with work, and then even began thinking that we were too old to hit the road with an RV. With teenagers tagging along it never seemed feasible, but this time we got inspired after doing a bit of online research and decided to bite the bullet and finally live our dream!

It turned out even easier than expected. Starting our journey in France, we were able to spend some family time together before picking up our van. My daughter had mentioned that she wanted to improve her study results by being able to learn French in France, and we didn’t hesitate! We found her a nice school that offered study abroad programs as part of a summer school with accommodation, tuition, and meals included, and that way she was able to study French in Paris while we went off touring. It might sound strange to do it that way, but it allowed her to experience Europe independently, while giving us peace of mind at the same time, knowing that we’d always be just around the corner… figuratively speaking of course!

It was the same for my son, and as we progressed just the three of us east into Strasbourg and eventually to Freiburg, we dropped him off for a course to learn German in Germany. It was the same deal, we wanted him to experience Europe in his own way, without his “olds” looking over his shoulder, and find his own direction whilst studying at the same time. This also allowed us the opportunity to continue touring around Switzerland and Italy with all the time in the world to ourselves – the ultimate solution and the realization of our long-held dream! Circling around to pick up the kids, drop off the van, and fly home together, it was really the perfect way to spend a vacation.

Next stop: the States. We started abroad, but now we’ve set our sights on buying our own RV instead of renting one, like we did for our Europe trip, and discovering a little more about our own backyard by touring through the vast expanse of the United States of America.
