RV Solar Power
RV solar power - When you have solar panels on your RV its not exactly roughing it. If you have a T.V. and all of that you should be able to power them without your battery burning out. If you let your battery get down to 20% power it will most likely burn out. Even with a full charge if you charge it frequently it will eventually die. But the cost is often worth it since many batteries can last for years with proper care.
Take in consideration the type of camping you do in your RV. If you only
camp briefly in the summer then you won't need a big solar power panel
kit because you won't get much use out of it. If you're a full time camper
then you might need to spend the extra money for a big set because you
will use it often. If you just go camping on vacations then you probably
don't need one at all. When buying make sure to look for the label UL.
UL stands for underwriter's laboratories. If the kit does not have this
label on it you probably should not buy it as it could be dangerous once
installed.
Solar powered panel kits are beneficial because they don't create noise,
pollution, or vibrations. Also, they are very portable (many of them fold
up). There is no gasoline or oils to keep up with. Basically solar panels
kits collect the suns energy and store it. There are two ways in powering
your RV with solar power. You can either charge your battery with the
panels or just run your electric directly off of them. But when charging
batteries off of the panels make sure that the power stays above 25% or
you will drastically reduce your batteries lifespan.
Mechanical generators are good because they don't depend on the sun so
when its dark you can still have electricity. So if the sun is not out,
it does not affect the electricity like the solar power kits. The best
thing is to get an rv solar power set on your roof, and get a small portable
generator as a backup and charging station. When the sun is not out you
can crank up the mechanical generator. That way you will always be safe.
The portable generators are good for a backup power source.
Also when not in an RV you can use standard sized generators for parties,
band practice, barbeques, or anything else because they don't create any
more noise, pollution, and vibrations than the parties they are making
electricity for. You can also buy full sized solar power kits for your
house, but this can be quite expensive.
So if you want a quiet, clean, vibration free power source solar powered
panel kits are a great choice. If you don't mind the pollution the mechanical
generators are reliable and do provide more power than the rv solar
power.
